Class Statement
This course takes the approach that Web languages, such as PHP, MySQL, CSS and JavaScript, are similar, and fall into a series of specific categories. We will examine core programming concepts such as functions, loops and variables, in more than one language at a time, to see how they each work and to gain an understanding of each language's strengths and weaknesses. Students will learn how to utilize each programming language to build dynamic websites and small online applications. Resources related to blogging and content management systems will also be discussed. Through exercises, students will explore multiple languages to find solutions for real world problems. Prerequisite: SMC-2422, Introduction to Web Languages: HTML, or equivalent.
